New build Mk3 - Print cooling Blower fan

I finally built the Mk3 kit and I had two issues

1. The left Z axis motor lock nut was too tight and it wouldnt spin and After unscrewing/rescrewing multiple times and adjustment, it started to spin without any problem and eventually the calibration suceeded.

2. However, I couldnt get the filament to extrude and it looked like the feeder mechanism couldnt push the filament into the extruder opening (The white tube). I tried to see if Icould get to the extruder without disassembling the whole thing and I pulled power cable from the blower fan 🙁

I readjusted the extruder and It looks like the filament can atleast get into the extruder (It does in and stops but I am hoping it will be ok once it heats)

Is there an aftermarket part for the print cooling fan that I can order ? I couldnt find that part in here.

While waiting to get this blower, can I still run test the printer to see if it extrudes? (I assume the prints might fail because it is not cooling in time but I can wait for that)

Any help is appreciated.

The print cooling fan is a standard part available off the shelf from places like Amazon BUT take care to choose the correct one. A lot are 12v but the Mk3 uses a 5v blower fan for the print cooling.

Until you replace it your printer will fail the very first setup step, the self test. Print fan is part of that test.

Thank you. I disassembled and fixed the extruder (and confirmed that it can extrude during filament load).

I was looking for 50x15mm blower parts and it looks like most of the parts are 2 pin connector and the one that came with the Mk3 is 3 pin connector. I guess I need to look further.

Good point. I had forgotten the Mk3 monitors the fan status so yes, a three wire 5v blower is required.

Anis,

I don't have a printer yet (MK3 ships in April), but I'm curious about the specs for the fan that you couldn't find in the US.

Did you find the fan in the Prusa store? I didn't see it. Can you post a link?
