Need advice - Upgrading MK3S+ (still in kit (un-assembled)) to MK3.9 and adding MMU3

Hello Prusa Forum!

We (son, daughter, and I(dad)) could use some friendly advice, tips, feedback, thoughts and ideas.

We currently have a fully-functional Prusa MK3S+ (built from kit).  It is in a PrinterBox PrusaBox enclosure with LED light lighting, a HEPA filtered extraction fan and enclosure temperature control.  We added a Raspberry Pi 4B (8,GB), a 7” Raspberry Pi touch screen (running Octopi/Octoprint and OctoDash for the local screen/UI) and a buck converter (to supply 5 & 12 volts).

We also just added a PrinterBox Spool Tank and a MMU2 that we upgraded to a MMU3.

This printer and accessories/upgrades are working great!

Now, the part we need help with…

We have a second MK3S+ kit that is still in its original box.

We also have a second PrinterBox PrusaBox (still in box, un-assembled).

We just acquired a MK3S+ to MK3.9 Upgrade kit. (Still in original box).

We have a Raspberry Pi 5 (8GB).

We are going to be getting:

Another PrinterBox Spool Tank.

Another MMU3.

The first question/challenge is:

How and where to blend the assembly of the MK3S+ with the upgrade kit for the MK3.9

Has anyone done this already? (Building both from kit).We think most people would be doing this from an already-built and functional MK3S+).

If someone has done this (build from kits), do you have any insight, tips or advice, now that you can look in hindsight?

If you have not done this, but have wisdom and experience in these efforts, do you have input or advice?

Thanks to all reading this, more thanks to all/any that can contribute.

~BTDO and Fam

RE:

Addendum:

On this build, we will most likely also use/add/implement:

1).  A 5” touch screen

2.). Enclosure temperature control

3). Cool LED lighting.  This is not a print farm - there are two other folks that need to see, do and experience the many cool things that can be done not just wrt to a 3D printer, but also with a custom build.  I am doing everything I can think of to make sure they see that the only limiters are when we stop saying “what if”…

4).  Thinking hard about adding both an endoscope camera and extruder light/spotlight to view close up of nozzle.

5). As many tried-and-tested mods for cable management, camera mounting, fan enhancement/airflow improvement, extruder visualization, machine protection (think rail covers, cooling for PSU and xBuddy, Silicon hot-end cover, etc.).

6).  Improving our wiring “harness” and cable management from the first build.  While it is functional, safe and workable, there is room to grow, such as a detailed wiring diagram, common wiring nomenclature, etc.

We want to get them all done at the get-go, as modding after the build is great, but always more involved.  We had a great time on the first Prusa MK3S+.  I am looking forward to what we do in round two!

I was hoping this topic would start some “out of the box” discussion…

As Sid The Sloth said in Ice Age: “Doesn't anyone love me? Isn't there anyone who cares about Sid the Sloth?”…
