MK3S Y carriage belt tensioner offset 1.5mm
PLEASE NOTE: I have the new style tensioner that is two parts drawn together with an M3x30mm bolt.
The 2 screw holes that mount the tensioner parts to the Y carriage are offset to the side of centerline of the belt by 1.5mm.
You can easily see this on a pic of the carriage, look at 3 center holes....
The centerline of the belt tensioner is therefore offset 1.5mm to the side of the single bearing. (Right side on mine looking down from the front.)
This causes the belt tensioner centerline to be offset by 1.5mm from the lower part of the belt.
So as you slide the carriage all the way to the front or rear the tensioner forces the belt the the side of the gear or idler.
This doesn't seem correct, shouldn't the belt be centered and parallel everywhere?

I just looked at my printer and the the two bearings are on the left side. I think you have the carriage flipped...

Hello.
If "the two bearings are on the left side" for Jerry so "the single bearing is on the (Right side on mine looking down from the front.)" for Bradley, well ;
It is good for me. You must use the good word to precise the right point of view : above or below.
The problem is elsewhere ?
Nota : i don't have the last version.

@jerry-v2
Jerry, I just grabbed a pic of the carriage from the Prusa site so you can see the two holes are offset, my bearings are correct, 2 on the left side looking at the printer from the front.
So looking down on it, my tensioner is offset 1.5mm to the right side.

Been awhile since I built a MK3s but iirc while the mounting holes are offset the belt when its gripped wasnt and aligned fine with the motor and idler pulleys. It only fits one way round.

@bradley-tsp
claire-k is right, I left out a critical bit of info - from the front should have been included.
From the front, it appears that my mounting holes are offset slightly to the right (towards the single bearing) but the belt is correctly aligned when placed in the slots.
Perhaps a picture or two of your problem would be useful.
