MK3S recalibrated himself during print, after losing his home point. Is that normal?
Hello everyone,
today I recognised a strange behaviour of my MK3S and I’m not sure where it comes from. Maybe I could need some help.
Recently I moved in a small student apartment so I started building a smart enclosure before I burn the hole place down.
While waiting for parts, I decided to renew my printer. First I updated my Prusa Slicer followed by the printer firmware, I cleaned and greased all bearings, I changed nozzle and PTFE tube, I reassembled the printer and successfully passed the assembly check. Then I checked the belt tension, adjusted E-steps, layer height and extrusion multiplier and finally printed the first XYZ-Calibration Cube.
During the print my MK3S stopped 4 or 5 times and after he went to the home point, he continued printing.
For me it looks like he lost his home point and had to recalibrate.
Because I never saw this behaviour before, I’m not sure where it’s coming from and if it’s good or bad.
So before I run straight into a bigger problem, I wanted to know if someone made the same experience before?
Yours faithfully JF

What do the Fail Stats say?
I suspect minor crashes, if so check your axes for full, smooth, travel.

@diem
Hi you were right, I reprinted the Cube and stand the hole time next to the printer.
This time the printer only stopped once and I was able to read the massage: crash detected.
Im not sure why the print crashed, for me it seems like the printer did nothing wrong and just stopped randomly.
Is there a way to get something like a crashlog from the printer?

@jf-3
this could be a number of causes, If you didn't lubricate the linear bearings during assembly I would start by lubricating the smooth rods.

@jf-3
You have a crash summary on the printer. It should indicate which axis is playing up.
