MK3S+ mayday
I need help. I've been up for two days trying to figure out what is going on with my MK3S+, trial and plenty of errors and forums. everything was working fine till it wasn't. Ive been adjusting the superPINDA thinking that's my issue. Ive cleaned the nozzle, ran countless calibrations; but every time I get to the "first layer cal" it either doesn't print a straight line or its really wavey. As far as the zig-zags goes the printer cuts to a 45 degree before making a 90 degree as it should. What am I doing wrong? Ive had this printer for 2 months now..
RE: MK3S+ mayday
Sounds like the nozzle is way too high. I'd try a calibration strip such as https://www.printables.com/model/105404 to dial live z in

RE: MK3S+ mayday
Hi Overlander...
Personally, I think the built in first layer calibration tool is Quick and Crap... yes it works... sort of.... when you know what you are doing,
but lots of Newbies have problems with it
and... the more failures you have, the more failures you are likely to have. because, the build surface is likely to get finger grease on it from repeatedly removing failed prints, and finger grease acts as a release agent for filament, so once you start to get a decent thickness of filament, you start to get the filament pulling off the build plate, due to lack of adhesion...
which can be most frustrating.
I suggest that you try a new process
If you are confident that your Super Pinda, is correctly fitted at the correct height above the build plate,
I would suggest that you make sure that your live 'Z' is 0.00 mm or close to that value. so that you don't scrape your nozzle on the build plate.
then I suggest that you use the LCD Menu, to select 7x7 mesh bed levelling in preference to 3x3 mesh bed levelling https://cdn.prusa3d.com/downloads/manual/prusa3d_manual_mk3s_en.pdf
See page 35
7x7 mesh bed levelling doesn't take a lot longer than 3x3 mesh bed levelling,
7x7 tests 49 points on the build plate instead of the normal 9 points,
Z-Probe nr. chooses the number of tests at each point,
Magnets comp On, causes the printer to ignore a small number of points that are affected by the hold down magnets
a post that saved my sanity, is :-
https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/life-adjust-z-my-way/
there is a zipfile at the bottom of the first post, which contains test files for PLA, PETG and ABS
to promote good adhesion, I wash my build plate with Hot Water and a little dish soap, rubbed in well, with a new dish sponge and rinsed well withclean hot water, then dried with plain paper towels
I find that IPA tends to spread grease out more evenly, rather than removing it.
good luck
Joan
