mk3s crashing

This has happened twice now. First time was during initial setup/calibration, right before heating hotend for first time. Whole unit just stopped, with screen flickering. Unplugged everything, and unit came back after being unplugged for a period of time. Now after 10-12 hours of printing various items it happened again about 1/3 of the way into a "benchy" print. Once again, had to leave it unplugged for at least 15 minutes. No unusual electrical odors. I'm hoping I have a wire loose somewhere. When it came back, it did not try to resume. Any suggestions?

Kit or factory built?

If factory - contact Prusa via their store CHAT function. Be patient, sometimes they are busy.

If kit - also a good idea to ask Prusa.

But you might check that all of the wires are properly connected and not damaged or pinched. Also check the power supply rails are holding at 24v (requires DVM). Check that the wires to the hot end heater cartridge aren't twisted or scraping the bed connector...

was a kit.

been two days now and still have not heard anything back.

my gut thinks that this is not an assembly issue. just happened again, seemingly randomly. Have printed a good 20hrs on the machine by now.

Don't expect a speedy reply from emails. Use the chat function as recommended above; you'll have an answer or troubleshooting help in a matter of minutes.

As a test - disable the FILAMENT SENSOR from the LCD menus. I doubt that's going to help, but worth a shot.

Verify the hot end heater cables are dressed, and not touching each other - and all power cable screws at the Einsy board are firmly tightened down, nothing close to touching. And the other power consumer is the heat bed; you may want to pull the plastic shell and make sure nothing is close to touching there, either.

Log into your Prusa Account (the store account), and there should be a CHAT option lower right screen. They can take 15 minutes or more to respond, but they are your best change for a timely response.
