linear bearings

Does anybody know where to buy professional quality linear bearings like you would expect to find in a $750 printer?

Re: linear bearings

Make sure it's your bearing and not the rod by trying another bearing on it. I had the same symptom and the cause was slightly oversize or out of round rods.

If you contact support via live chat they will square you up with replacements under warranty, but if you want to go your own way, Misumi and/or THK have equivalents that can be used drop-in.

Apparently THK are the recommended ones since they fit best on the stock rods, Some reading has informed me that while misumis work ok on prusa rods, they are best paired with matching misumi rods.

The misumi USA site sells both.

Also - make sure you lubricate the bearing before installing it. Bearings ship with a preservation oil that needs to be removed, and grease packed into the races.

Misumi sells good bearings for cheap - about $6 each. And they ship stock items like LMU8's quickly.

Re: linear bearings

Contact the chat, they'll send you replacements (also rods if those have grooves from the faulty bearing).
Additionally, please do not rotate the bearings on the rods like you did in the video - they are called linear bearings for a reason and absolutely do not like rotation. Maybe consider washing them out with Isopropanol and then push lithium grease in.
If you really want better bearings, buy Misumi ones including their rods (you always want both). They are absolutely smooth without any wobble, but are not quieter.
Misumi part numbers:
Bearing - LMU8
Rod X - PSFJ8-370
Rod Y - PSFJ8-330
Rod Z - PSFJ8-320
(Those are not cheap. All-axis replacements are around 100$. A Europe-based shop for them would be "zaribo")
