Leaky nozzle - how much to disassemble?

I upgraded my printer from the MK3 to MK3s and have never been able to get it printing right again. I thought I was doing well, but then I realized there was a small leak. After that I think I got filament in the threads of the nozzle so I was never able to get the nozzle in enough.

Below are pictures of my current situation. I'm thinking I need to heat it while it's disassembled so I can get the plastic off, then check to make sure the heat break is in the right position. I ordered a new nozzle just so I don't have to fight with any extra filament, so that should be in soon enough. My question is whether or not that's the right path, or if there's another route I should go to get this working right?

That heat break is far too deep into the heater block.  Read and follow the E3D-V6 assembly instructions. Word for word, every step is critical.

ps: As for how to proceed - the instructs discuss how to take things apart without damaging them.

Here is another Prusa guide that will help you. https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/how-to-replace-a-heatbreak-heatsink-heaterblock-mk3s-mk3s-mk2-5s-mmu2s_16104

Thank you both. I'll take a look at those guides and hopefully get this up and running again (once my new nozzle gets in)

Worst case you can buy a fully assembled hotend from prusa.  I did this once, to have as a spare, I think it was like $80 + shipping.  you can then just unplug the old one toss it and plug in the new one.

@tim-2

The online build instructions advise reading the E3D V6 assembly guide ( https://e3d-online.dozuki.com/Guide/V6+Assembly/6 ... a different link from what you provided) before assembling the extruder (I believe the commenter mentioned a burr preventing nozzle from sealing, leading to leaking). I'm performing my first build (an MK3S+ kit) and wondering if I need to follow one of these guides and disassemble and reassemble my hotend just to see if everything "looks OK" before starting to assemble my extruder. I really don't want clogs and I'm concerned that I'd be introducing error from my inexperience rather than trusting it was built correctly in the first place (I realize that sounds naive, but I don't know that I would recognize if something is not OK in the first place).

In your opinion, should I trust the hotend was assembled properly or try to disassemble and reassemble?

Good morning Tim.

I have built 4 Prusa Mk1, Mk2, M3 variant printers and have always trusted the New build hot ends.

best wishes, regards Joan

@paul

What a brand new Prusa hot end looks like - as a guide for how deep the heat break and nozzle should be when properly installed.

@tim-the-novice

And as Joan said, a new MK3 printer kit comes complete and the hot end is ready to go.
