Layer height?

First print, trying to print PRUSA badge from SD card. Does anyone know why my printed layer would be so very thin?  This is thinner than fishing line!  It comes out of the extender like this during the calibration routine. No matter what I change live z to, it’s still very fine like this. I’ve gone from zero to -1.5 stopping at .25mm increments.  Still the same height.

One more thing, the calibration line it prints at the front of the print bed goes from thin to fat, no problem

thanks in advance for any help!

Extruder, not extender.

I found mine printed a very thin line too. I think it’s supposed to be this way.. it’s printing in “fine” detail?

The live Z height won’t change the amount of plastic extruded, only how much it’s “pressed” into the bed and this how much it sticks to the bed.

RE: Layer height?

Hi Daryl,
I suggest that you re confirm that your PINDA probe is set correctly, If it is too low, the Nozzle will be correspondingly too high.

then re run your live Z calibration

Ok thanks, I’ll try that. The manual says use a zip tie as a spacer. Is that the right distance or should I use something else?

@darylbongo

with the nozzle touching the heatbed and one of the small prusa zip ties under the Pinda probe, that should be the correct setting.
If the nozzle isn't touching the heatbed when you do the adjustment then the nozzle will be too high afterwards
