It either catches paper or "calibration failed, check axes" during XYZ calibration [SOLVED]

I assembled a mk3s about 4 weeks ago. It was working as expected and then its extruder gear moved out of place. I fixed the problem, and proceeded to recalibrate the X axes. The problem is, I can't get passed the very first stage of the XZY calibration.

Either it

1. complains that "calibration failed, please check the axes and run again" .

or

2. It grabs the paper

I have checked every axes. I have moved every axes from begin to end and everything seems to be ok.

but when I adjust the PINDA probe things happen:

a) Either the paper grabs in the very first corner.

or

b) I get the "calibration failed, please check the axes again" error.

I have tried adjusting the PINDA problem in tiny increments, but the calibration ends in one of the two situations. The PINDA problem is approximately at the distance recommended (thickness of the tie).

I have tried everything that I can think of, but I have not been able to succeed:

- checked the tension belt of the X gear (re-tensioned it)
- checked the travel of the X gear
- checked the travel of the Z gear
- checked that there is no obstruction during the entire travel (X, Y and Z)
- checked the travel of the Y gear

disassembled and reassembled the head of the printer and reattached to the printer.

the one that makes the difference, as I mentioned above, is slightly moving the PINDA probe up and down,

Any ideas?

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions/ideas.

thank you

[update, solution]: I upgraded to MK3s instead of MK3 created a bunch of problems that culminated in this one. ONce i flashed the correct firmware, everything worked as expected.

All I can tell you is that if you move the PINDA probe, you must redo the Z offset. Make sure that the PINDA is slightly higher than the nozzle tip.

When calibrating, heat the nozzle and make sure it is clean. What I did was move the nozzle to the center position, put a piece of paper underneath, set Z=0 and then adjusted Z offset until the paper just dragged. Do make sure that your bed is reasonably level.

The problem was that I upgraded the wrong firmware. I used MK3s instead of MK3.

That snowballed into a bunch of issues (its head clogged and the filament got stuck) that required further attention.

Ultimately I went back to the correct firmware and everything is working.

Thank you all.
