is this z banding? loose (or too tight?) x belt?

Is z banding the terminology for whats happening here? I am still trying to get my new Mk3s dialed in and I'm still learning what to search for to troubleshoot. I got a concrete paver today to see if vibration was causing this. I have tried two different tables in case of issues there, one on iron legs, another iron frame, but on casters, both on carpet. The banding/shifting pattern is a consistent shape on this particular print. All of my taller prints do similar (shift left to right) on the X axis.  I also tried retightening X-Carriage screws but they seemed fine beforehand.

Belts at last check were 241 and 271. X seems a bit high if lower numbers mean too tight. Possible belt tension issue?

Sorry for my ignorance, and thank you for any help offered.

RE: i think i found the issue

after reviewing these, i think i found the cause. Looks like pulley on x-axis belt was slipping, which makes total sense with the jitter I was seeing. I tightened it down, and the issue seems to have resolved. I am happy that I know what to look for now. Printing a cube now for comparison. Thank you again

That looks like a loose grub screw on the x axis to me. Those small side to side shifts of a few mm are classic. Please check and if loose fasten properly in the correct order. If not done correctly they will work loose over time.

It could be loose belts too I suppose but my money is the grub screws.

grub screw

I think this was the screw that I tightened. The screw that tightens down on the flat part of the shaft on the x axis motor

Good to hear

Grubs screws are a common cause of shifting and poor quality.  Happy printing.
