Is this a good example of when to use a brim?

A test piece in PLA of a bench dog I modeled and sliced, a first for me. It used the default Prusa PLA profile and 20% infill.

Everything appeared to be going well until I noticed the post had curled and lifted. The face stayed attached to the bed and the part finished without further incident. I'm assuming since the post is round (3/4"/19mm dia) that there wasn't enough contact surface area to keep it attached while it cooled. Is this a correct assumption and would a brim have helped here?

Thanks in advance!

you might be better trimming a couple of mm off the bottom of the model, to cause a flat on one side of the rod, to give greater adhesion and reduce the deformation of the lower slopes of the rod...
use the original STL, use the CUT option in Slic3r, to remove, say 2 or 3 mm, don't save the lower part, and you can then printwith increased adhesion.
the missing part is unlikely to detract from the performance of the Dog...
support may also help

Thanks Joan. I may give a brim and your idea a try just to see what happens.
