How should I upgrade?
I've got a Mk3 that I've had for a couple years now. When I bought it, I also got the MMU upgrade, but never installed it. Then the MK3S came out. Since I'd planned to install the MMU eventually, I got the MK3S MMU upgrade kit.
Somewhere along the line (don't recall what happened), the piece that holds the PINDA probe broke, so the PINDA is hanging in place solely by the wiring. The printer worked just fine though, so I printed out what I believe is the correct replacement part. But again, never installed it. I honestly didn't want to disassemble the whole extruder unit if it worked anyhow.
Well, naturally, something jarred the printer and now the PINDA is off kilter and I can't get it back in line. I've tried CA gluing the piece together, but it's not holding, so I'm forced to replace the broken part. Since I'm having to take everything apart anyhow, I figured I'd go ahead and put the MMU and the MK3S upgrade in place. However, now I'm not sure which path to do first.
Should I install the stock MMU first, then do the MK3S upgrade? Or is there a way to skip ahead to the MK3S without going through the base MMU upgrade?

Do the MK3S upgrade. Hold off on the MMU until you actually need it.
That will add a whole new layer of trouble shooting...

Thanks for the input. I started looking through the boxes and as it turns out, I have the "Upgrade to MMU2S" box.........sans parts. So I apparently thought that I'd just go ahead and print out the parts rather than order them. Which I can't do at this time. So looks like I'll be putting the MMU on to begin with whether I want to or not. 🙁

I can't envision any upgrade path to the MK3S that requires installing any version of MMU.

I went through the extruder upgrade to the B7 unit (which it turns out I already had), but also solved the problem re: the broken PINDA holder, so ultimately, I don't need to do the MMU upgrade at all at this time. Going to earmark that for another Saturday in the future.
