Horrible Blob and I screwed up the wires... help

I had been printing fine, got the printer up and running, printed several parts, then left it running last night on a larger print.  Unfortunately I had left the fan on in my room and that in combination with the AC I believe deformed the part and it peeled off the bed, then created a blob, and eventually stopped with a crash detection.  (The first 10 layers had already been down and looked good so I thought it would be fine to leave alone).

So I watched the video on removing blobs, preheated and began to remove the blob.  Unfortunately it pulled the small black wire out of the hot- end, and the white heat shielding off the wire.  Now I'm not sure what the best way to fix this is.

I'm assuming that wire is to help determine the internal temp.  So how to I recover from this 🙁  Had the printer working for about a 2 days.

Yeah, after watching several videos I arrived at that conclusion.  Is replacing them documented somewhere?

Be sure to also add a silicone hot end sock to your shopping list; in addition to helping stabilize the hot end temperature, it prevents the plastic from completely sticking to the heat block and blobbing up on it next time a part detaches; it'll only be able to stick to the exposed nozzle area and more likely droop and fall off on its own accord rather than engulf everything.
