Help!
While switching from PLA to ABS…I heated to ABS temp and attempted auto load. Gears are turning but nothing will load or extrude all the way through. Needle will go in the extruder nozzle. I’ve tried all the clog fixes I could find. What did I mess up or doing wrong?! Ahhhh!!!
I suspect you have a small piece of filament stuck inside the Hot end
I would remove the extruder idler tension screw, and, with the extruder heated to say 280C, I would push a long 1.5mm allen key (Hex wrench) into the top of the extruder, past the bondtech gears and into the hotend. it will probably come to a halt when it finds the piece of filament,
I would then grip the allen key with my fingers, against the top of the extruder housing, withdraw the allen key and compare the length of the allen key with the length of the extruder from the yop of the housing to the nozzle, if there is a blockage in the hot end (Allen key length is much shorter than the length of the extruder, I would re inster the allen key into the hot end, and try pushing the blockage, firmly towards the nozzle
where it should melt and be expelled,
If this works,
replace the extruder idler tension screw, and try loading fresh filament.
If that is successful, reset the extruder temperature to match the filament temperature and extrude some more, whilst the extruder is cooling, to ensure that you have passed any overheated filament out of the nozzle

Thank you!!!!
@JoanTabb
Joan...you are....AWESOME! That worked perfectly. Thank you so much. I'm new to this so lots of trial by fire.
Easier than ripping the hot end apart. Joan
