Having trouble with XYZ calibration 🙁

This is my first printer, the Prusa i3 MK3. I built it in two days. I've also replaced the filament sensor with the help of support because the one I initially had was DOA and my printer could not pass the sensor test. (It works now, and passes that part.)

I am now stuck on the XYZ calibration part of the tests and what happens after it gets to the bottom is that the nozzle touches the paper on the bed, it immediately fails and tells me to check my axes. I was wondering if you guys had any common fixes or advice for this issue, so I don't go taking the whole thing apart trying to fix it. Thank you!

(And if you need more, differently angled photos, I can provide them!)

Re: Having trouble with XYZ calibration 🙁

when you say "nozzle touches the paper" is the paper still able to move, or it is pressed real hard?

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

Hi Celia,
It looks like you have the extruder assembly too low

in the extruder housing

compare the picture with yours, I think you will find that yours is about a centimeter low

These pictures may help

In this picture above, the extruder assembly is incorrectly seated in the housing

in the picture above, the extruder assembly is correctly inserted into the plastic housing

Re: Having trouble with XYZ calibration 🙁

Hi there,

I am having the same problem. I have verified that the extruder assembly is correctly installed. My paper is able to move also. I did notice that the Z axis motors don't seem to move at all though. It immediately says "Calibration failed" when I push OK after it tells me to put the sheet of paper under the nozzle. I checked the z-axis motor connections on the board and they look good. I can turn the z-axis screws by hand (did the leveling step in the assembly manual, PINDA probe adjustment in chapter 9).

Thank you for any advice!
