Going fine then not.

Assembly and setup went fine. Printed two parts from SD card; the Prusa Logo, and then Benchy. They came out very well. Went to print 3rd item, Buddy and nothing would stick to the plate. I wiped with alcohol and started over. Still not sticking. Wiped with Acetone, and then alcohol again. Still not sticking.

Went back to first layer calibration, started that and still not sticking. I forgot to say the the first line that it does in the corner of the steel plate is fine with all of the above. It's when it goes to do the outline and first layer of the part that doesn't stick.

I didn't change anything between the first two parts and the third. I had no reason to, the prints are good.

Help!

Thanks

Lane

Hi Lane,

if you go back to the first prints, do they stick?
The PEI surfaces are sensitive to grease even fingerprints can reduce adhesion.

Try taking the build plate to the sink and washing with Hot water and Dish Soap, then rinse with Hot water and dry with plain paper towels, then do not touch the build surface.

try a bed temperature of 65 to 70C for PLA prints.

good luck,

Hi Joan

Thanks for your reply. No, no matter what file I went back to or tried, nothing would stick. I will try the wash etc as you suggested later today and will let you know.

Appreciated

Joan

Finally got around to washing in hot water with Dawn and trying another print. It worked! I think it's amazing that I used both Acetone and ISP and that didn't work.

Thanks again

RE: Going fine then not.

it's a 'Cheap as Chips', Solution...    that Many people simply refuse to try!

Perhaps as IPA gets harder to obtain, folk will look for alternatives...

the problem is that people generally don't realise just how much technology goes into 'Washing Up' liquid,   and they discount it because it can't be as good as  the 'More scientific' alternatives...

I just lost two days of time creating first layer calibrations that would not stick.  This did it.

Thank you Joan!
