First print with MK3S+ has strings galore

Got printer set up and decided to print benchy first. Put in some PLA, which I had around, and got the print below. Got a lot of fine threads on the print. I did use PLA that I had for some time, which may be part of the issue. That said I never got this issue with my previous printer.

Your filament is damp.  Look up threads here about drying.

Are you sure it was PLA? I ask because I only had this kind of stringing when I’ve used PETG. Or if temperature settings were off…

Yes, also printed off the SD Card supplied with the printer.

I'll do that - unfortunately all I have at the moment that is sealed is PETG that I ordered with the printer.

Ordered a filament dryer which should be here tomorrow.

Agree on the dampness.  Also that kind of spiderweb/angel hair stringing is VERY easy to remove.  A quick pass with a butane cigarette lighter (the blue flame type) instantly shrivels up the thin strands.

Nice tip! I’ve been printing over the last  years, never drying the filament. I noticed that some of my printed items were brittle - even breaking fairly easily. Finding out that is also due to the same issue - filament too wet. The value of the Prusa forums speaks for itself.
