first layer problems - is this bad adhesion or an extruder problem?
I have a mk3s and I was wondering if anyone knows what hardware issue could cause this behavior in a PLA print? (Image link). I can't tell if the filament is getting clogged and coming out inconsistently or if the problem is just adhesion, but I'm pretty sure it's just an adhesion problem. I had just reran all of the calibration and cleaned the bed before doing the print above, here are the results of the first layer calibration and a second run of first layer calibration. The first layer calibration looks good to me (aside from a weird but tiny x axis overshoot every 4th row or so which I'm not sure the reason for). Im not sure what keeps going wrong when I try to do other prints with sharp corners like the one in the original picture. Please let me know any insight you may have or any other tests I should do.
I've had the printer for about a month and I've had issues like this for most of that. I do have a theory which is that the PEI sheet could have been damaged due to me not originally realizing that you are supposed to apply a glue stick before printing PETG to avoid damage when removing the PETG? So when I was previously doing PETG prints, it took a large amount of force to remove prints from the bed (unfortunately I did this on both sides of the sheet so I can't just flip it over). I can't really tell if the sheet is actually damaged though.
RE: first layer problems - is this bad adhesion or an extruder problem?
Solved: I lowered my Z even more and prints are coming out nice now. I guess the first layer calibration worked even though my Z axis was too high, maybe this is unrelated to problems I had previously. For now, printing is working fine.
