First layer problems and my benchy has been ripped off - Pronterface not working either...

Hey Prusa community,

printing with:

Assembled the kit 2 days ago and started to calibrate - everything seemed good and I started to Z adjust (currently -1.890), the first layer seems to stick on the bed, but has holes on the end of every line..Then I wanted to calibrate Esteps on Pronterface and it got worse - i cannot extrude (always pushed out the filament) or when it went into the right direction it just pushed out 60 of 100mm filaI started a benchy and it got ripped off the plate at the roof (picture)

Please help me - I am a total noob and cant figure out whats wrong

You could usefully lower your first layer Z a little, a fraction more squish, you are probably within 0.01-0.02 of your optimum.

Give your build-plate a thorough clean, there are lots of threads on here about it.

Your benchy and cube suggest your printer is otherwise set up well enough for the first month...

During the first few weeks of use the printer will run-in and settle its parts together; then you will have to go over the basic maintenance checks, lubricate and recalibrate. Even if you got everything dialled in perfectly today, it would all need re-doing.

Better to settle, temporarily, for a basic working printer and get some useful printing done, make your early mistakes, establish a routine and generally get used to the process. Then when you do your one month service you can take extra care knowing the new settings on your now stable printer are likely to last for several months.

Benchy is, frankly, too demanding for a first print but well worth using as a calibration check later on.

Cheerio,

To print you need:

1.  Clean bed, wash with dish soap, and use a lot of hot water, do this several times. If it works you can use alcohol a few times, then use dish soap again.

2. First layers needs to be 100%. search youtube how it should look like.

Pla on powder coated bed could be difficult, every powder coated bed is different, use petg  on powder coated bed, then you have it more easy.

Pla works best on pei sheet. On pei sheet you can use petg but use window cleaner or glue stick, because petg will destroy your pei sheet.
