First layer problems after 3.9.3 upgrade Mk3s

Hi All,

My printing was going pretty good, I had not printed for a while so I was running old firmware (either 3.9 or 3.8)

Every time I printed it reminded me that I need to upgrade the firmware.

When I finally upgraded the firmware I decided to re calibrate the printer, which in hindsight may have been a big mistake

Since then I cannot even do a first layer test correctly, I have not had a first layer problem for years.

When I was running xyz calibration the paper was getting caught, so I moved the pinda probe down, and now it does not get caught, but I still cannot print a good first layer test (ie the line pattern with small rectangular block).

Does anyone have any ideas of why this is happening? My last firmware was doing a 3x3 bed mesh, I have tried both. I sense that the printer is not following the bed mess correctly, when it used to in the past.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Foo

Do a factory reset and try again.

@cwbullet

Would that not be the same as new firmware and start with new settings? I will give it try tomorrow, but these is so odd. I have never had this issue with the MK3s... don't know what happened. This all messed up on the same, only difference was new firmware and re calibration. I have tried to re calibrate now 5 times.

Thank you for your suggestion...

I just did the firmware upgrade myself and everything was fine with the first 6 prints. Now I get this with the first layer, see attachment. Using MK3S, petg, 240/85 with a Z -1.45.....................any help would be appreciated.

@jerry-s

Sounds like we are having similar issues. I did a factory reset, I thought it was better, but I am having to stop print straight away now as I can see they are going to fail.  Anyone out there with advice?

I don't have any advice, just want to add to my previous post. I ran the Wizard and the extruder catches the paper. I shut the printer off as the Wizard commands but the Wizard does not tell me how to fix that problem. As you might guess this is all new to me so any help is welcome.

@wildnine

So, the factory reset did not work?

@jerry-s

same thing happened to me re paper. Only way to fix this is move the PINDA probe down a little, that should stop it catching.

unfortunately not. So odd how this firmware can make such a difference, I had the same issue with the paper on the xyz calibration as @jerry-s, it did not do that when I built the printer.

I am going to try and wash the metal sheet and see if that helps, running out of ideas.

@wildnine

Very true.  I had a failure that was odd.  I thought it was a firmware update.  I RESET and it worked for a few days and then stopped having good adhesion again.  I reviewed everything for days and it just went away.  Odd for sure.

Same here, have this printer over a year now and never had one issue with the prints not sticking, upgraded 2 days ago and now every print is a mess.  Did all the things I see everyone else doing here.... Changed the Bed!!, moved the Pinda, cleaned the bed, re-calibrated, wizard, hard reset... nothing is fixing this... So upsetting, I print many prints all day here and now I can't print any!

Really need someone at Prusa to address this issue right away
