First Layer Calibration Problem

First layer calibration will not allow me to lower my printing.  I can raise the printing, but not lower it.  Any idea why this is?  I've reloaded my firmware, reset all settings and I've run multiple XYZ calibrations.  Nothing seems to help.  The firmware I'm using is the latest at 3.7.2.

Thanks;

Richard

RE: First Layer Calibration Problem

how are you trying to adjust Z ? the firmware limits Z at 0 but you adjust the real height using the "Live Z" adjustment on the front panel.

Yes I'm using the "Live Z" adjustment on the front panel.  I can increase the height, but not decrease it.  It stops at '0'.  I should be able to decrease.

I guess you run Z calibration from "Moving Z Axis"? That´s not how it works. Moving the Z Axis lower than the established zero is never possible outside of calibration, as you´d easily crash in the bed. Check out Josef´s video.

I was able to lower mine to -1.435 while it was extruding in the "First Layer Cal" run.  Also found out I was blind or almost, 72 yr old eyes need help!

RE: First Layer Calibration Problem

When performing Live-Z adjust, the idea is to lower the nozzle from the as-built PINDA height to compensate for the nozzle/PINDA difference. Thus, you can only adjust negative.  There are any user cases where going positive is needed since that would mean your PINDA is lower than the nozzle and would drag on the bed erasing any plastic extruded there.
