First layer calibration and nozzle size
Hi there,
Not my first print by far, however I am needing to re-do first layer calibration. Since I last did this I have moved up to a 0.6 nozzle which is also set in the HWSettings area.
When I try to do the FLC, the initial check the filament is flowing two lines come out perfectly. The rest though is a mess, blobby and inconsistent. Up to now printing has been basically flawless and FL always good. Looking at the output though it looks to me like too little filament may be being extruded when doing the FLC pattern, whereas with the initial extrude lines the extrusion looks good. It feels like maybe the calibration pattern is expecting a 0.4 nozzle and is not ready to cope with a 0.6.
I've searched to see if there is information on the nozzle to be used for this however I cannot find any. I'm looking for some info her if anyone can help.
RE: First layer calibration and nozzle size
The built in test is designed for a 0.4mm nozzle only. Which is why we don't use it , actually those who use the jeff jordan method for live z setting don't use the built in method at all.
Just slice a 1 layer high square or rectangle and print it. The adjust as its printing to get the proper height. Exactly the same technique as for a 0.4 but you slice with your 0.6mm profile instead.
