First layer assistant doesn't work

Hi everybody,

I received my MK3 S and the MMU 2S a week ago ... I bought the printer fully mount to save time but for a week I did not print a single file ......... THE MMU is just a big joke unmanageable !!! I mounted it perfectly, no hard point in the filament, everything is OK, firmware OK, all right but the bearing block that selects the filaments barely touches the filament so it does not lead, so systematically an error happens and forces me to reboot the entire system ...
Another thing also the assistant of first layer crash systematically !!! once the printer has done all these tests and it comes to the setting of the first layer (assuming that the filament is looking correctly because I need help it to get to the nozzle) the print head stay in place without moving the X and Y Axis so that the extruder out the PLA and makes me a huge shit under the nozzle! Impossible to stop so reboot again! this printer is cracking me, I have about fifteen Chinese printer that work perfectly (including 3 that I mounted myself) I told myself I must have a prussa is when even the reference and well for the moment I am super disappointed !!! The service Prusa answers me 3 days after my messages in two words to my problems and do not solve anything!
If anyone has these problems or had these problems please help I'm about to swing the MMU while I buy it for that! Either the MMU coins I received are poorly printed or I do not understand that Prusa puts such a joke on the market! Thank you all ...

RE: First layer assistant doesn't work

Is this an MMU question or a MK3 question?

Diagnosing printer problems with the MMU attached makes it impossible to really help much.  Recommend you disconnect the MMU until you get the printer working.  And, in almost all cases, failure to print is something done by the builder during assembly.

As for tech support: the best way to get help from Prusa is to use the CHAT feature on their on-line store.  Email is 48 hours, and asking for help one sentence at a time is a waste of your time and their time.  So log on to the store, open chat, and be patient - it takes up to 15 minutes sometimes.  But they are there, and they want to help.

Asking here can also be helpful. But you have to keep to task and understand people helping are other owners, not employees, and we aren't at the printer to push buttons.

So pop the MMU off; and then reset the printer to factory defaults using the full data clear option.  You want to start with a full EEPROM clear to remove any MMU related constants.  Then run through the printer wizard to perform all of the calibrations.  Report back on your progress.

hi and thanks for your answer ...

I think it is a MK3 question because the assistant layer is inside the MK3 firmware but maybe the MMU is the problem ...

"And, in almost all cases, failure to print is something done by the builder during assembly."

I bought the printer all mounted  !!!

So ok i will do all you ask me to do and I will tell how work all of it …

(Sorry for my English not really good)

Best regards

RE: First layer assistant doesn't work

Hi there -- if you bought the printer assembled, along with an assembled MMU; I'd be upset and hanging on CHAT to get Prusa to help make it work.  Also - my advice to do a full reset is probably invalid, for now.

I read a lot of "Hi, I just assembled my new MK3 kit, but my printer doesn't work. Help!"   Usually the builder rushed the assembly and missed a few steps.  So that's my expectation .  Sorry... lol.

You might try disabling the printer filament sensor.  It has a few known issues. And to help with diagnosis, feeding filament directly into the printer rather than using the MMU will help identify what is happening.  I think all you have to do is remove the Bowden connector and you can feed filament straight down the extruder, and set the printer so it doesn't expect the MMU.  I don't own an MMU, so I can only offer limited help with it.
