First ever kit build, 2 failed benchys and my first benchy success
Firstly, thank you to everyone who posts and replies, this forum helped me solve a lot of initial hiccups in the building and calibration process. Any feedback on my first effort is greatly appreciated as well.
I have my printer dialled in after calibration. Have to admit I had access to a surface plate with a .001 thousandth flat accuracy for the initial frame setup. Movement in the initial frame read at 3 thousandth of an inch in movement corner to corner.
The first major issue was the Z-Axis not calibrating. Drove the extruder all the way to the top manually, then ran a Z-only cal and that was the end of those issues.
My first two benchy's failed at exactly the same point, ending up detached from the bed.. Both used 0.015 Quality setting and gcode from the included SD Card. These both printed at a 45-degree angle to the heat bed. From another forum, I read that others had the issue, and it was the travel path of the nozzle catching on the upraised blobs, and to fix it I printed my third running front to back on the plate
So I downloaded the benchy source from their website and ran it at 0.2 Quality and very, very happy with the result as shown! 2 days of patience and a little heartache has led me to (I think) a great quality outcome.

Your Benchy (aka Boaty McBoatface) 😉 looks better than many similar first prints.
The one thing I can't see from the photos is the appearance of the bridging on the top of the wheelhouse in the front. This is one of the most critical sections, and is one of the best torture tests that the Benchy does. It will typically show a little sagging but should have no stringing or separated layers.

@jsw
Thank you so much for the feedback! Here's a front-on view of the print.

Your first layer has holes in it, think you are to high or not enough filament coming out of nozzle.
Look for test prints with a few squares, so you can adjust the the live z adjustment(z layer calibration).
Look on youtube for examples.
The first layer should not have holes, and the lines should stick together.
prints coming loose:
To prevent this:
1. clean bed , with dish soap.
2. first layer calibration should be 100%
Both settings are needed to get good sticking to bed, and that there are less problems with your model higher up in the print.
This helps against the big ball of filament sticking to the extruder, because of releasing of the model.

This might help you get that first layer right.

Thankyou to @peter-m-3 and @gkmakeit for the advice! My 1st layer was out by a small fraction. Needed a very very small tweak but made a difference nonetheless.

Congrats. Keep tuning - You will get there,
