First check issues - Calibration failed! Check the axes and run again

Just finished the build and can't get past the calibration. Moves up and down the Y axis a bit when calibrating Z and then fails. Here is a video

thanks for any advice!

Something is binding on the Z axis and preventing it from going up further. It also sounds pretty crunchy. Check that the bearings all move freely and that the Z-nuts are not binding. Can you move the Z up further if you manually twist the lead screws by hand with the printer off?

thanks for the reply! I am able to manually move the Z axis all the way to the top within the SETTINGS screen.

what's the best way to check that the Z-nuts aren't binding?

An easy way is to act like you are starting a print so you get the X-Axis to the bottom of thee Z-Axis rails.  Then support the X rails with a box so it can't drop onto the bed.  Remove the screws holding the T-nuts to the X-Axis supports.  They are then free to turn all the way up the lead screws...

To reassemble the X-Axis, turn the T-nuts back down to the supports and screw in place. Then, you MUST drive the X-Axis to the top of the frame (press and hold the control button to get to the X-motion settings) and drive the axis upwards util you hear it colliding with the top stops.  Ensure both sides are against the stop.

The printer X-Axis is now recalibrated.  But a test of Live-Z is probably in order, to be sure all is well.

Here is a video with a few different clips

- general noise
- left side moving but right side not
- moving the Nut manually - at first it looked like the right had interference - it hits the rod a bit more
- but then I started to notice the Nut free spins downward - the right side moves down a lot smoother than the left
