Filament Unloading
I just unboxed my new mk3.
There were a few inches of filament that was loaded when I received the printer
I tried unloading and it's stuck. Is this just something they do for shipping and I should remove it some other way?
I watched a bunch of videos to try and unload it, but everything so far has been unsuccessful.

From what I have read that piece of filament is what was used to test and calibrate the printer.
You should be able to remove it using the preheat function (it should be PLA) and after heating select "Unload filament" from the menu.
Going straight to "unload filament" should work too. The printer will ask what type of filament is used.

Update:
I grabbed a set of needlenose pliers and grabbed the filament right above where it enters the encasing.
I put just a little wrist pressure and run the unload over and over. (I was able to see a tiny bit of the filament backing out each time)
After a lot of cycles, it finally came out.
I did play with the screw tension on the side - and I did notice the motor would try harder to back it out the tighter the screw went, but then when it was over tight, the effect diminished - so, I left it right at a spot where I felt the filament moving the most when I selected unload.

After you selected unload filament, did you see that it prompts you for what type of filament to unload? If you don't make the second selection, it will time out and ignore your unload command. Since you had to do it multiple times (unload) and it still didn't automatically eject (it has to heat up to be able to do that), I strongly suspect you didn't see that you had to choose a second step in the unload sequence.
