Filament Stuck - Unable to remove filament/PTFE Tube

Hi All,

Our relatively new printer (bought in October '22) has its first jam. I tried several things including heating to 280 and trying to push filament through. Even with a good amount of strength, the filament would not move. At some point the filament also broke within the mechanism, so I've opened it up following the "How to replace a hotend PTFE tube" guide.

I'm not sure what I should do next. I've made one small attempt at pulling the PFTE tube and it doesn't budge. I am wary of damaging something so I'm not sure if there is something else to try. I have access to a heat gun, and some videos I've seen suggest heating up hotend and then pulling the PTFE tube out, hopefully bring the filament with it.

I'd appreciate any guidance anyone has to offer in this process. Thank you!

RE: Filament Stuck - Unable to remove filament/PTFE Tube

WHen the heater is COLD, unscrew the heatsink from the Heatbreak, and the filament should come out of the PTFE tube with the heater and heatsink.
once the heatbreak is out of the heatsink, you should be able to push the PTFE into the heatsink, and out of the bottom of the heatsink.
(the black ring at the top of the heatsink is a sort of one way grip...
It SHOULD be possible to push the black ring towards the heatsink and pull the PTFE Tube out. BUT... If you have tried to pull the PTFE out, without pushing the black ring, inwards, you may have damaged the PTFE. once you have the PTFE Out, you should be able to remove the remaining filament(If the filament is still stuck in the heatblock/heatbreak, it may be necessary to heat the hot end, and pull the filament out when it melt.

re assemble the e3Dv6 hot end, and if possible, use a new piece of PTFE, (usually found in the spares bag)

Make sure the nozzle tightens against the end of the heatbreak
