Filament stuck

I was printing with glow in the dark filament and a structure with LOTS of supports, the millenium falcon. No idea what cause it but I noticed a clicking sound and it was higher than the model with nothing coming out. I stopped then retracted the filament and from the spool it actually broke completely.

I tried loading filament and retracting more and nothing works. I am not sure the troubleshooting steps for stuck filament.

Re: Filament stuck

If you search on "extruder click" you'll find many discussions on the noises. You likely have filament broken off below the extruder gears but above the hotend. Open the extruder and see if anything is poking up out of the white PTFE tubing. If you can, use tweezers or needle nose plier to remove it. Do not damage the PTFE tube.

If that fails, you can try heating the nozzle up to print temp for your filament, and pushing fresh filament in from above to see if it will work its way through.

If you still have no luck, you can try more steps. This is a common occurrence. Do not panic. Will post more when back at my desk.

Re: Filament stuck

I tried again to dislodge the filament. It's really stuck in there. I think it actually fell down into the PTFE tube. I see some filament oozing out of the nozzle I want to say that it isnt even a clog (although having plastic in there just molten isnt good for it right?) I have tried to 'load filament' several times and the gears just click, nothing budges the Glow-in-the-dark into the hot end. the gear part that grabs onto the filament seems to have that type stuck in their teeth (maybe they cant 'grip'?)
