Filament no longer extrudes in the middle of printing

Hi there,
a few days ago I was able to print normally and the results were all great, but from one print to the next I suddenly had the following problem: When printing, at some point the filament stops extruding, either right after the print starts (see picture), or in the middle of the print, or at the end of the print.

So far I have tried/found the following things

  • Loading filament into the nozzle extrudes the filament, but slightly curled.
  • The calibration of the first layer looks good, so the setting is the same as on the good prints.
  • The screws are all tightened.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks to everyone who takes the trouble to help others here on the forum.

Regards, Jan

Hi Jan,
Has the ambient temperature risen in your area?
Are you printing in an enclosure?

This sort of issue can be caused by rising temperatures.

PLA can soften, in the cold end of the extruder, and cause a jam.

Try cooling the area where the printer is, with a fan, see if that helps.
If the printer is inside an enclosure, try openning the door to let air circulate.

Hi Joan,

the ambient temperature was quite similar between the prints. I'm printing within an enclosure located within my office. All printes are done with PETG. I just tried to print with an open enclosure, same results as before
