Filament do not flow during print but does good if change filament

Hi all,

I have the issue that filament does not come out if I print something. I thought that is because nozzel is maybe blocked so I did clean with the cold method. But looks like nozzel is free because if I change filament it flows without any issue.

I have the feeling that filament stuck somehow but there is nothing I can find where my issue is. Anyone?

Live-Z set too low can cause this.  Reset it to 0 (zero) and perform a fresh Live-Z calibration.

Hi, thanks for that, but it did not help. I have still the same issue, if I change it flow is good during change process. If I try to print nothing comes out of nozzel 🙁

Still don't know why and how to fix it. I have the feeling that it do not pull enough filament for whatever reason.

Well - if filament is melting and flowing when changing, and you were able to do a Live-Z (which prints filament) then the hot end is working as expected. It is probably the gcode you are using has incorrect settings.

ZIP then post the gcode for the part that is having problems. What type of plastic are you printing?

Hey, I'm using the PLA which comes with the printer. I was not printing any object just try to do the first layer calibration, but even if I try to print any object I have the same issue.

I have the feeling that it try to push the filament during print but strong enough. Seems like it's not powerful during print to flow the filament.

I try to hold the filament during filament change between my finger and it was very strong, but if I try to print feel like nothing happen at all it rotates (I can see inside) but filament stays where it is.

Can you finish a Live-Z calibration?  If you can, take a photo of the Live-Z pattern and post it.

Hi, yes I could finish it, not sure what you mean with Live-Z pattern ? Do you mean the sucess message?

Hmm - seems you are missing some pretty basic knowledge of the printer.

Go to page 25 of the Prusa Printing Handbook - perform the First Layer Calibration - it requires you to set Live-Z.

Post a photo of the result.

@tim-m30

Ah okay sry now I know what you mean. I think I miss understood you in the beginning, I did a full calibration of XYZ, but I still have that issue that I'm not able to print. The first layer calibration still dont have any filament comming out of nozzel.

And yes, I'm new to 3D print that's why I'm bit lost, because I could not find anyone with the same issue for now.

So let's sum up. I reset the pritner (factory) I did again a full calibration XYZ and after I set up high of nozzel where just a single paper is able to be between bet and nozzel, after I change filament (where if flows without any issue) then I try to print the first layer calibration and nothing comes out of the nozzel, bet is empty after print.

May I can do a video if this helps.

If filament is extruded when LOADING - there is little that will prevent it from extruding during a layer one calibration except the nozzle being too low to the bed (Live-Z too negative).

Please run Layer 1 Calibration, take a photo of the bed after it completes and post it.  With out a photo of the problem, it is a waste of effort trying to help: there are just too many possible issues that seem like no extrusion; but are caused by other factors; and guessing is a waste of time.

Hi, I did a full reset again, and now it's working again, still have no idea why. Thanks so much for help!

I have similar problem. Just been blocked from posting YT vid and a jpg of the problem.
In general it stopped printing default models after I have jammed the nozzle and did a cold pull which didn't help.

@arepaj

Check of all screws are fitting well, I think I had a little bit of cable between some parts. That help me to solve it I think.

@thomas-4

Thanks very much, it helped with the screw with the spring load tension that opens the flap to get to the gears that pull the filament. I am up and running now. Thanks!
