Failed first print

Just got my new printer all put together. As far as I can tell, everything is working correctly. I picked as my first print item as the 3DHUBS MARVIN that was on the memory card. Over all the print looked great, but both times I've tried it, only the top piece is messed up. And right at that time, the item is broken free from the build sheet and moved a couple inches off to the side. It shows no errors or any other indication that anything went wrong.

Can anyone let me know what I might be doing wrong? I did just now update it's firmware from 3.2.1-576 to 3.3.1-845. I don't know if that might correct anything but figured I would ask before attempting another try.

Thank you
John

I wasn't sure exactly how I can show a picture, but hopefully one of these will display it.

Re: Failed first print

Heat is your problem there from the look of things. The material does not have enough time to solidify before the next layer is added to it, leading to the globs you have. Turn up the cooling or print two Marvins at the same time, one either side of the build plate. You will then see the difference as each layer will have time to cool while the hotend travels across the the other Marvin.

Good luck!

OK thanks, I'll give either a try and see if that works better.
