extruder stops turning mid print

My extruder stepper is doing weird things for no reason at all that I can think of. I can load filament no problem , although when I do I have to press no a few times for filament to come out . Sometimes it does sometimes it does not. I tried the live adjust Z print and it worked fairly well but wasn't squished enough as I could pull it all apart . So I attempted to do it again and filament loaded with no clicking or anything , but when it started the stepper was not turning. Now the whole hotend is new ptfe tube and all. All is clear in it. When it does turn and I start something the prime lines are also not the same as they have been. They are basically .45 mm with a .40 nozzle (brass) .When I get them. Is this a sign of stepper going bad ? Why turn sometimes and not others ?

RE: extruder stops turning mid print

A video of what you're experience might help.  You offer conflicting information, you say you can load filament no problem then in the next sentence tell us you have to click no a few times to get it to load.  That's a problem.  You say you're having a problem with z-offset, that could be extruder or your z-offset is just too high.

I can think of a few problems here, one is a clog, another could be an improperly assembled hot end, another might be the stepper motor is failing, another might be the tension on the Bondtech gears is incorrect, another may be the grub screw on the Bondtech gear to the stepper is loose, or it may be an electrical problem either in the cable, the connector or the board.

Cheers

When loading filament it asks if the color is correct. There is no filament out so I press no and probably do that three or four times till it comes out. I am not having problem with z offset. I ran that print that is 9 squares and lines and a R and L on two of the squares designed to make it easier to adjust because the one on printer , well it sucks . When I tried to remove it from bed the strands were not stuck together. No big deal. I tried to run it again and this time it went through motions with stepper (extruder) not turning .That's a problem. No clog , properly assembled hotend. Have done it a few times. Grub screw tight and aligned. Very little tension on bondtech gear , no threads coming through . Can't see it being cable as it will work sometimes . But I can unplug and plug it back in . Baffled

The filament change procedure on your printer should be able to extrude filament and get you the correct color without having to press no.  If you have to do it regularly, that's a problem.

Like I said a video of what you're experiencing would help.  There might be something some of us might see or hear that would pinpoint the issue.

Sorry, I have been trying to learn how to cut a piece out of video and it is not going well at all. I managed to print this and it has problems also , but at least it laid filament. I didn't watch it all so not sure if extruder stopped in the bad parts or something else is problem. When I built this machine I had it near perfect and every time I update it really screws up. It takes update after going back and forth but I don't think I ever want to update again. Not worth my sanity.OH at the end of this test print my screen did this. Yay!! Never saw that before.Video does not seem to work

Based on your photos your z-offset looks fine, but your bed needs cleaning, where the filament is lifting is poor adhesion, that squiggle in the center of the square is just some ooze that stuck to the nozzle and let go just over that square, I used tweezers to remove those from my print before it does bed leveling.  That screen though, that's funky.  I've seen screens do that kind of thing when they've been impacted by static, but this could be a bigger event, the screen could be failing or the Einsey may be failing.  You may want to get with Prusa support and see what they recommend.

Good luck.

Hi thanks for response . That squiggle is supposed to be an R there is an L also , looks same . This plate is my original . I just finished washing it and wiping with alcohol . I just received my new one. Didn't want it on there till everything was working. I will have to figure out how to send them a picture of it .See what they say . I quickly check cables for  chaffing but they are run right .

Thanx
