Extruder Motor running Hot
Was wondering if there are any causes to investigate for an extruder motor running hot?
Thanks in advance

How hot?
It's working hard, it will get warm.
Outside of an enclosure it should never get too hot to touch but it might be uncomfortable to hold.
Cheerio,

50c is not abnormal - mine has been as high as 58c in a 23c room. I added a 40mmx40mmx11mm heat sink using thermal tape to the end of the motor. The motor case now sits below 40c most of the time.

- the pads in this set are not adhesive, so buy some thermal tape ...

The heat from the stepper motor transfers to the drive and can cause problems when transporting PLA, especially when printing in an enclosure. I was able to lower the temperature from 55 to about 40 degrees C. with the installation of an noctua fan.
