Extruder gears don't allow the idler door to close fully
Assembling my MK3, section 5, steps 9 through 13.
The idler door doesn’t fully close. The two Bondtech pulleys, even with the teeth engaging, don’t allow it. With some force, I can push the door to align with the extruder body, but that doesn’t sound right and is probably hurting the bearings in the idler pulley, which spring the door back open again. There are about four layers of idler door print material “sticking out” of the body. The M3x30s and their springs will probably exert a similar force as I can apply myself, but with Jakub’s above reply that “without the filament inside, the idler should be closed fully”, I’m not sure if I should just proceed.

The door should not align with the extruder body, the bottom of the idler will be sticking out, the heads of the tension screws should be just barely sticking out of the extruder body- that's your starting point.
Step 15: Place both screws into the Extruder body and tighten them. The screw's head should be almost aligned with the printed surface.

Thanks for your reply. Here's a 5 second video of the current situation. Like I said I'm a little hesitant to continue given Jakub's statement in the comments of this step of his online assembly guide. I'm a bit hesitant to continue, fearing that, if it's because of a mistake I made, it will be hard to fix when the printer is fully assembled.

It's hard to tell in that video, but it looks like the Bontech gears are not lined up all the way.
Did you use a piece of filament to line them up before tightening the motor gear?
Is the PTFE tube out of the top of the hotend inserted all the way?
I have attached a copy of my MK3 for your reference, hopefully it helps.
The door is not supposed to be closed all the way, and the heads of the 2 screws (on the opposite side) should be just outside of the extruder body, if not flush
Look at step 24, the door is not flush with the body

IIRC, my door looked like that when I assembled my kit. I have no trouble printing.
Agreed with previous post, double check that you did "Step 14 Adjusting and tightening the pulley" correctly.

Thanks for replying guys. The picture in step 24 does indeed look very similar to my situation. I do indeed still need to adjust the pulley to be aligned with the idler, but given the geometry that did not seem to me to be the cause of my perceived problem. I will just proceed with my build 😎

Try opening the door and turning the idler slightly. What is happening is the teeth on the Bondtech Gears are not lined up. However as other posters say this is not a problem complete the assembly through self test part of the calibration wizard and then adjust the tensioning screws.
