Extra material attached to head bed for first couple of prints.

We recently finished assembling the i3 MKS3s 3D printer kit.  For our first print we used the PRUSA badge from the SD card, which printed okay.  For our 2nd and 3rd print, we used the Frog and the Adalinda files from the SD card.  For both of the printers, there is a tremendous amount of extra material attached to the model and the heatbed.  The remainder of the models appear to print fine though.  Does anyone have any thoughts as to what could be causing this?

That looks like a brim. You can turn that feature off.

@knavelfamily, you can't turn it off for the gcode files already present on the SD card, but for the next models you will slice by yourself, you will be able to choose between  a skirt (good to keep to balance the pressure into the nozzle before a print), a brim (used for models with small surface touching the bed and which can come off) and a raft (for materials warping-sensitive). A small guide.

@bobstro

Thank you!  We did not realize that was a feature that could be toggled.  We were worried that we did not calibrate something right.

@loak

Thank you for the quick response.  We are new to the 3D printing world and still trying to learn all the different settings and terminology.  It is good to know that we seem to have everything set okay.  Do you have any suggestions for the best way to remove the brim or skirt once the model has been printed?

You can use a set of scalpel, some are dedicated to 3D printing, a cutter or a deburring tool.
