Does printing at a certain temperature have (dis)advantages?

I have printed quite a few temperature towers and most of the times saw no difference in a certain range even with noname filament (see enclosed example). If I look at this tower it shouldn't really matter if I print at 190 or 210. But does printing at a certain temperature have advantages or disadvantages?

For PLA the nozzle temperature will have a minimal effect. Set it as high as possible to get the best layer adhesion without quality loss.

Other filaments (like PET, ASA, etc.) react much more sensitively to the temperature.

Also depending on the object/speed you might want to increase the nozzle temp even if the temp tower is showing stringing. Or you might want to decrease the temp to get a better detail on small/tiny figurines.

For example if you print one long line at full speed the filament is extruded colder then printing slow (always changing direction). This is something you don't see on the display as the extruder don't show you the actual nozzle point temperature.

Not a direct answer, but after spending many hours printing temperature towers that showed very little variance, I found that I get much more useful information out of an overhang test. A scaled down version of the ATOM 80 degree overhang test shows much more variance between temps.

Yes, the used temperature tower is missing lots of scenarios. Personally, I use the io3D temperature tower, but it's not free. So, I would recommend the 3DMN tower.
