Crash detected / X axis issue

Hello all,
I have an issue and have read, recalibrated, tore apart & put back together, to no Avail. I was able to get the printer put together, calibrated octoprint up an running. I was successful in printing 5 of the STL files included on the SD card. I then moved on to printing a Pi B+. ~3 hrs into the print I hear a grinding noise and the print stopped, said there was a crash detected. I was not able to reproduce the "crash" I thought perhaps my PINDA was the culprit; I raise it a bit I recalibrated everything still get Crash reports with the added bonus that the machine can nit locate the i started the print again and the same thing Tool, and tries to home itself hard left normally should be 250.

i deleted all the settings wiped the board and reflash the firmware and i STILL get crash reports when clearly no contact was made. Then i thought maybe i screwed up a setting when I sliced the filerit I went back and tried to print 1 of the prints included w/ the printer again

Thank you in advance,
rick

Re: Crash detected / X axis issue

A crash can happen because of too much drag on the X or Y axis; check for free movement left right front back.

That is not it. I am able to print successfully. I just completed an 18-hour print, a case for the raspberry B+, spool & camera mount. I am very satisfied with the final print quality. I was only able to print when I toggled the crash detection to the off position.

I do appreciate the advice

Rick

Re: Crash detected / X axis issue

Turning off the detection only means you are ignoring the crashes when they happen. Small minor micro-shifts in the print may not be noticed. On the other side, allowing the printer to run for a while may be burnishing the bearings and rods and wearing down the thing that was catching and causing the crash.
