Completed MK3S+ Assembly -- First Power On and Self Test Question
I've just completed the assembly of my MK3S+ and am ready for my first power-up and to go through the setup wizard. Question -- while performing the initial SELF TEST (which is prior to the initial XYZ calibration), is it preferable to have the steel sheet installed on the heatbed? I know we need to remove it for the first part of the XYZ calibration, which comes after, but am wondering if during the initial self test if it is helpful to have it there to protect the bed. In the instructional video, Josef Prusa has the steel sheet installed during this step, but in other videos I've seen it done without it. Is one way better than the other, or does it not matter?

The printer will prompt you when it's time to fit the steel sheet.
Cheerio,
