Can't print 1st print - so frustrated with this thing
I ran through the calibration wizard. Everything looks good. The zigzag line matches the pictures in the book.
I try to print the 3d benchy or the prusa logo from the supplied SD card. The bed heats up. I'm asked to load filament. I load and filament starts coming out into a little pile (see picture).
I'm asked if the filament loaded correctly. I say yes. Then the printer moves left, moves back right, and asks me to unload the filament. I unload, and then it asks me to load the filament.
Over and over in a loop.
What do I need to do to get this thing to work??

This was my fault - plugged the sensor cable into the top row of pins instead of the bottom row. Now printing benchy.
Prusa could have made step this fool proof by putting the sensor wires into an 8 pin plug (so the wires always go into the bottom row), or by printing the sensor cable "aligner" to block the top row of pins.

Sounds like your filament sensor is not assembled correctly. For debug purposes go into the LCD settings menu and turn the filament sensor off. Then try a print. If it prints then you know that the filament sensor is not behaving.
At that point its back to the assembly manual and redo that part of the assembly making sure everything is perfect. The MK3s sensor is has to be set up perfectly, this is a common issue. There are lots of threads about it.

I always load the filament before picking a file to print. I use auto loading, but you can do it manually. If the extruder isn't up to temp it will heat it up during the process. I'm new too, but here are my steps and they have been working successfully on my new to me Mk3S+ kit build.
1- Preheat for the selected filament type.
2- Load the filament by pushing it into the extruder with auto loading enabled. It will ask if it is the correct color after loading. If not OK, say No and it will push more in.
3- Select the file I want to print.
It goes through the 7x7 height calibration and prints a short line on the edge of the print sheet. Then goes on to print the skirt and part.

Pretty sure this is an off the shelf board - not something Prusa specially designed.
