Can someone please look at my print mess and give me suggestions?

I'm printing petg on my mk3.  I was able to get the first layer pretty good.  One Z gave some missing line and I raised Z until all lines were present.  But the second layer was what you see above. The bed was totally clean and the petg was fresh from the bag.

Problems:

1) Yellow crap leaked from nozzle.  I assume this is normal creep leakage which I need to look up how to fix.  That isn't the big problem though.

2) Layer 2 missing a lot (very ugly).  I've never seen anything like this.  Is this under-extrusion?

Help please?

"Fresh from the bag" does in no way, shape or form equal "dry enough", especially for PETG. Dry the filament for 4 hours at 55 to 60 °C then check if the problems are still there.

Good idea.  I'll put it in the dryer now.

Also, please show us your heatblock/nozzle assembly from two different angles.

Cheerio,

Drying it overnight fixed the big mess so I learned a lesson.  I still have the leakage leaving brown blobs.  I'll try doing whatever is needed to tighten up the assembly and stop the leaking.  If that doesn't work I'll post the two pictures requested.

How do you tighten the nozzle? Do you follow the procedure from here with the hot tightening?

I suspect you have melt running down from the top of the heatblock so pay particular attention to the diagrams at the bottom of the page linked by @walter-layher .

I replaced the nozzle and dried the filament and everything is hunkey-dory now.  Am I the first to discover you need a tight nozzle and dry filament?  🙂
