Brand new assembled MK3S+ making grinding noise.
Previous prints have not done this, and this sound is only made when it's printing long lines in a certain orientation (diagonal).
This is the only print it has made this sound.
Wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to resolve this.
Tis normal. Start working on ways to quiet your printer
Some orientations and fill patterns make interesting sounds. If you think your printer is loud, start working on things to quiet the noise transmission down. I recommend squash ball feet as the most effective mod for noise transmission, table top resonance issues.
Not normal.
Sorry but this noise isn't normal and I found the issue. During assembly, the manual states in various stages to not tighten screws until the next section. Unfortunately, it doesn't remind you to tighten. The screws behind the machine holding the Y stepper assembly were loose and the cause of the issue.
I agree, some patterns are louder than others, however this wasn't normal.
The old Y motor mount is loose issue
Glad you found it. That motor mount is quite buzzy even with the screws tight. On my second build, I added a piece of mylar I had laying around between the motor mount and the frame - the motor will buzz even with the screws tight.
