Belt Tension Too Tight
Hi,
I have just started to build my Prusa i3 Mk3 S+ and need some assistance / advice.
When installing the first belt holder I left about 10mm of belt overhanging. However when I went to fit the second belt holder, there was not enough slack and I could not screw the belt holder to the Y carriage. I undid the screw holding the belt onto the first belt holder and re did it so that it only overlapped by about two teeth. This still was not enough so I had to undo the Y Belt Idler Bracket which then allowed me to fit the second Y Belt Holder?
After securing the Y Belt Holder bracket and then the Y Belt Idler bracket the belt seem really tight? Should I have a longer belt?
Here is a video and pictures.
RE: Belt Tension Too Tight
That looks way too tight
Both parts of the belt should both be just within the printed part like this, are you using the online manual, its far easier to follow.
Prusa Knowledge Base (prusa3d.com)
You need to take both ends back a few notches on the belt
Tank you very much!

Or maybe just one tooth on each side, but certainly looks too tight to me.
"Make sure the bent part and the end are within the width of the printed part"

RE: Belt Tension Too Tight
Good news.

When you get it fully assembled and operational there is a menu selection that displays a value of the tension measured during the calibration routine. See the 3d printing handbook.
