Assembly guide Bondtech aligment, black nylon too thick ?

Hi,

On the assembly guide, part 5, step 10, about Bondtech gear alignment it says "Take a piece of the 1.75 filament. [...] don't use the black nylon, which is too thick. "

How the hell am I supposed to believe mk3s specs material " Pla, Abs [...] "Nylon" ? NYLON ? O.o

If the assembly process tells me not to use black nylon which is too thick ; it must be the same deal for printing ?

What if I want to use one day Nylon ? Do I fully tear down the filament loading assembly ?

Thanks for your insight

Hi Sidney,

if I remember well, the attached black nylon (approximately 50 cm long) is supposed to be a supporting guide for the cables coupling, so it is not for printing and is not  1,75 mm. That´s why the warning.  Read the manual, where the coupling of cables and the purpose of the black nylon  is described - step 55.

Yes the kit includes a short  piece of 3mm nylon filament to support the extruder cable bundle and reduce 'Point ' flexing which can damage the wiring.

( the mk1 printer used to be supplied with a piece of 3mm ABS filament, but this cracked and broke over time, the move to nylon seems to have occured about the release of the Mk2 Printer. (Another of Prusa's improvements))

after completion, The prusa printer can be used with any 1.75 mm nylon 3d Printing filament, even the black stuff!

Well, print temps up to 285c recommended. Any hotter and the thermistor and PTFE may not survive.
