Are my walls acceptably ‘smooth’?
So I’m new to 3d printing, so I dont know what to expect. Normally I just prime and paint my scenary, but I was hoping to leave this work in the raw.
The cylinder walls are not ‘very smooth’ (using a .1mm layer height on a Mk3). Viewing Straight on its not very noticable, but from an upward angle it becomes more so. and the white is much more noticable than black or silver
Is this to be expected? Should I be getting better (smooter) results? Belts are 259 x and 261 y
Any suggestions?
Mahalo (Thanks) in advance

Are your belts tight? Are your belts alligned straight?
Re: Are my walls acceptably ‘smooth’?
depending on how much the printer has been used. maybe check rods and bearings.
or maybe extrusion modifier. if there is too much plastic it has to go somewhere.
I have a Prusa,therefore I research.
Re: Are my walls acceptably ‘smooth’?
What is a good test for extrusion multipler? I’m running at 1.0x straight up... maybe too much?
Re: Are my walls acceptably ‘smooth’?
measure 100mm on the filament. from the top of the extruder up the filament mark it with a marker. heat up and move the extruder 100mm see how close the mark is to the top of the exstruder

Easy enough! I’ll give it a try

a week isn't long enough to see the big island.

Hello Adam,
Try another filament. My last Amazon Basic PLA white looks exactly the same. If I print with any other filament, it's like day and night comparison on the same printer.
So before you change anything in hardware, just try another good quality filament.
