All going well until one print...

I'm adjusting to my printer and printing things I'm actually using. Since I had problem with filament tangling up on the spool, I wanted to print out some filament clips, a guide, and a stand for holding extra clips. At first I tried printing the filament guide, but it went bad on me. I figured I could try again. I took the file I was working on, which had 12 filament clips, the filament guide, and the stand to hold the clips, all in one file. I downloaded the STL files from Printables, made copies of the clip, and imported the guide and clip holding stand. I started printing then looked at it a few minutes later and saw this:

You can see the filament guide on the left is seriously messed up and some filament flips have been pushed around and others are just messed up. I've been printing without issue for the better part of a week now and there hasn't been a problem. I'm printing everything in PLA. I checked the Print Settings in PrusaSlicer and it was for PLA (the only thing I'm using as of now) and the layers were .2mm, which I've used for a lot of objects I've sliced and printed. I've used this orange filament before with no issue. It's seemed to print a bit thinner than other filaments, but I haven't been able to tell if that was my imagination or not.

Why is this suddenly going wrong when everything has been sticking to the bed without issue until now?

Give your print-sheet a thorough clean.

+1. Btw, "cleaning" does not mean IPA, but non-regreasing dish detergent, hot water and a good rub with a sponge. Just use the search function for mor details!

Best

I try to give answers to the best of my ability, but I am not a 3D printing pro by any means, and anything you do you do at your own risk. BTW: I have no food for…

I ordered Dawn. (We have some, but it's antibacterial.) While that is on the way, I went on and cleaned the bed with 70% isopropyl alcohol and did a print. It worked fine. One person said that between each print, he'd wipe down with isopropyl alcohol, then let it dry without wiping it dry, so I'm doing that and when I see anything building up, use plain Dawn.

(I'd just go get some Dawn, but it's a ways from here to any stores, so that's at least an hour to go get a bottle of detergent and get back here.)

Isopropyl alcohol is supposed to dissolve surface contaminants so that the wiping media, can wipe the contaminants off the surface.

dissolving the contaminants into the Isopropyl alcohol, then leaving it on the surface to dry, is likely to cause a thin layer of contaminant over a larger area,
this might be ok for PETG and TPU Prints, which can adhere rather aggressively to the surface, but probably not good for PLA Prints.

Also be aware that an IPA Soaked towel or cloth, can take grease from your fingers, and if you turn the wipe, over, you can transfer that grease onto the build plate as the IPA evaporates....

I only use plain paper towels on my build plate, because fabric towels are often treated with  'fabric conditioner' which can act as an adhesion reducer....

whilst Dawn and Fairy liquid are often quoted as ideal dish soaps. I have had success with many other brands. (Dawn and Fairy are simply, widely recognised brands)

IPA is not your friend until you get more experience.  And, unless you are printing 7/24, it really isn’t much help.  My printer is 10 feet from a sink  I wash for every print  happiness for my prints

I use a soap (here in some parts of the USA), from Wegmans. Claims no perfumes or dyes.  And, it is gluten free!  Works great, $2.50 or so for a year or decades of use.  Don’t get stuck on Dawn/Fairy.  Any cheap arse dish soap that claims “no” this and that is probably your friend... if you use it...

Don’t trust forum advice.

Okay - so wipe it dry, then, right? I can do that. I was already NOT turning over the paper towel, but I can easily make sure my fingers don't come in contact with the part I'm using to wipe it down.

From what I'm reading, basically, you want a dish soap without extras, like scent, or antibacterial stuff. When I looked up Dawn on Amazon, the best I could find was "original scent." I couldn't find any with no scent. Is that going to cause me problems?

Yes, any basic dish soap will do...
I use W5, which I think is Aldi  - brand, and
Almat which I think is Lidl  - brand
