Alcohol is not the best way to clean the PEI sheet -
Soap and water is best when adhesion is a problem. Alcohol can remove print residue. Acetone can remove oxidation. But soap and water should be used after acetone or alcohol washes. Soap and water is the best final step because it provides the best volume of rinse material. A few liters of water removes more than a few ml of alcohol can.
Hot Water wash: often, as needed
- Handle the bed only by the edges.
- Wash the bed in hot water, use a fresh paper towel as a wash cloth, with a few drops of plain dish soap (Dawn, unscented, no anti-bacterial, etc.).
- Rinse well in hot water - if you have very soft water, rinse a bit longer.
- Dry the bed with a fresh paper towel.
- Handle the bed only by the edges.
- Place bed on printer.
Alcohol rinse: every few prints
- Gloves recommended.
- Once in a while, an alcohol rinse is helpful to remove PLA residue. It does not remove finger oils well.
- Pour a 5 cm puddle of 91%+ alcohol in the middle of the bed, with clean hands use a fresh paper towel to scrub the bed. Wipe up all the alcohol.
Streak test: when contamination is suspected
- With a fresh piece of paper towel, and very clean fingers, dampen the towel with 91%+ alcohol, and wipe the bed side to side moving back to front, like you're painting it with alcohol. The alcohol should be thin enough on the towel it quickly evaporates. If you see any streaks, the bed is dirty and needs a wash.
Acetone wash: infrequent
- Pour a 2 cm puddle of acetone on the bed, scrub it around with a fresh paper towel. It will evaporate fast as you clean. This step removes PEI oxides that form over time and with heat, and improves PLA adhesion to a like new state.
ps: this image is after an alcohol wash: it printed perfect after a soap and water wash.

Hi Tim-M30,
many thanks for your short answer.
I just washed the bed with hot water and a dip of soap., clean it with an paper (Kleesex-Papiertuch) and test again with the Prusa Logo.
As now, it works perfect. So many thanks.
Attached you find some photos of the original problem:
Top side
Back side
Back side a the top of the part
Do you have any idea what happened here?
Thanks for your help and support.

Additional Info:
Filament is from Spectrum, Poland - I got a rest spool at the Maker Faire, Berlin

Layer one looks to be having problems. Thick in one area, thin in others.
Make sure you are using the latest firmware (3.7.1) and have the Mesh Bed Level option set to 7x7 ... it wouldn't hurt to do a few tests, too. Look up "Jeff's Life-Z My Way" here in the Prusa forums. His method to bed leveling seems to work for most.
If the extrusion isn't thin enough (0.2 mm thickness) it has a hard time adhering to the bed. And the images show some pretty thick areas.

Another thought is the "tab" on the part isn't actually at layer 1: it could be a second layer and your printer is trying to bridge that area, which will be impossible without supports or rafts. Turn on rafting in Slicer and see if that works any better.

Thanks for your help.
I will test it by today or latest by tomorrow.
With your cleaning tip the Prusa logo was sticking very good on the bed, but the surface on the backside (from the bed) is very rough.
I will forward sone photo this afternoon.
RE: Brauche Hilfe nach neuer XYZ-Kalibrierung - Z-Adjustment - Problem Filament haftet nicht
Here are the two pictures showing the backside.
Left: backside of the first print, just after first usage of the mounted Prusa.
Right: backside of the actual printing after cleaning with hot water and some soap. And Z-Adjustment to 0,300mm.
Surface not as smooth as previous but good sticking.

Try this technique for adjusting layer 1 ... follow Jeff Jordan's instructions.

To Tim,
and some others which read that article.
As you can see I made some progress. It takes a time, but the result is OK. As today I don't know if this is perfect.
See my test from z=-300 to z=-525
Ts
At 0,300 the first layer filament was totally separated. Each extrude filament is a single filament. the Surface was rough. At 0,375 the filament smells together. At 0,450 the filament heated to a homogenious material. The Surface at 0,475 was quite more rough that 0,450. The additional test with 0,500 and 0,525 showed a stronger surface with some very small bubbles and the top surface was getting more rougher.
So my result was z=-0,450 mm. The thickness measurement show 2,08-21,2 mcirometer.
z=-0,500 had the thickness of 21,8 to 22,5 and the z=-350 hard a thickness more the 23,5.
Do I need to optimize the z-Adjustment until I got the thickness of 20 micrometer?
