First layers on supports look aweful

Ok I have had my printer for a couple of years now.  I ended up taking a break for over 6 months due to health issue. Once I started printing again it said I needed to update firemware. Didn't think much so I updated. Well it blew out my Z offset that was done at the factory. I never documented it. It took me awhile and I think I got it close to where it was. I print several prints afterwards that came out fine. I am now working on a print and the top looks good but the bottom which is printed on supports looks like a mess. Again the bottom is printed on supports as its a wing for a ship. I tend to think its the stl files but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas. Like I said I printed other things and the bottom looks fine but then again this is the first print that the bulk of the print is ON TOP of supports. Any help would be appreciated.

Printing in mid air never looks good.  This part would be best printed with soluble supports, failing that split it in two and print the halves on edge for joining post-printing.

Cheerio,
