Official E3DREVO_fw_MK3S_MK3S+_3_13_0_6873.hex Firmware - Thermal Model still failing

I have the Revo six with a 0.40mm ObXidian nozzle attached to my mk3s+

Tried the new official E3DREVO_fw_MK3S_MK3S+_3_13_0_6873.hex. firmware, but the thermal model still aborts and fails at 70 degrees.

The PID tune works ok, but the thermal model calibration stops almost as soon as it starts.  Anyone else had any luck with it?

I went through this earlier. Had to do a factory reset to clear prior TM data, and it went through normally afterwards. Bit of a pain.

Did you do the factory reset after the new firmware update?

I haven't tried updating yet, just waiting to see if it worked before i tackled it

Yes. I ran into the same issue swapping from the 40w firmware to the 60w firmware- the TM cal errored at 70c. The only thing that would let me progress was a factory reset.

Working now This is what I did.

  1. Update FW
  2. pid tune
  3. Thermal cal - failed
  4. factory reset
  5. pid tune
  6. thermal cal - failed
  7. factory reset
  8. pid tune
  9. thermal cal - passed

So it took two factory resets and pid tunes before the thermal cal passed. I suspect it might be on the edge therefore, as it took multiple goes to get a pass. I’ll see how it goes with some prints. Might disable it again if it is problematic.

hmm still getting thermal anomalies whilst printing.

going to go back to turning off the thermal model, as it is still a bit rubbish.

Definitely seems pretty sensitive to draughts and such. My small fan at my desk (my mk3s sits off to the left) set off a TM anomaly once.

I have the same problem. How do you turn off the thermal model?
(I just downgraded for now)

Also had issues with 3.13.0, Factory reset did not work so ended up downgrading back to 3.11

Hi,

had same issues with 3.13 on a MK3 with Revo6 hot end. I flashed the version 3.13, but the initial calibration, which started automatically, stops due to a print error. So I started self test to check my hardware. Result was that the hot end fan was reported not to work.

I downgraded to 3.11, and self test is PASS, including hot end fan. Visual check confirms both fans are running well.
Seems thet the workaround to fix the issues with the new thermal model and the Revos6 have some sideeffects.
