Random Extruder Skipping Issue

Hi guys

After many successful prints, maintenance and calibrations - I just started to experience a random extruder skipping issue with the same model I have been using successfully. . The print and same type of filament used has worked well for 100s of prints - but all of a sudden just stated started to skip in the same spot on the first layer. (I checked for tangle filament as well and I cheeked the idler screw tension.)  I started over and it happened again, in the same spot. I unloaded, did a cold pull thinking it was a clog and it happened again!?!? I unloaded again and this time tried a different filament and it seems to be OK at the moment.  I took the suspect filament and started the print on another Prusa mk3s that I have and so far so good.

I checked the tension and gears in the extrduer assembly and all looked good.

If a part is failing - should I just replace the entire thing? Anyone else experience this and or can provide some advice?

I read some posts on the forums but they didn't really indicate the same issue. (motor temp feels just like my other Prusa printers when printing - so I am not concerned about heat creep - I read something that the motor temp could lower the hotend temp etc)

Regards

Update - unknown?

So not sure what it was - hence why I posted it here hoping someone else might have experienced this. I finished a 10hr print overnight with no issue using a different filament and started a new print and it seems to be working fine. I am not sure if it was the tension, a jam etc.
